
2025 MingClassics Academy Music Competition
Competition Purpose
The MingClassics Academy Music Competition is open to participants of the MingClassics Festival and Masterclasses, providing a platform for young musicians to showcase their talent, refine their stage presence, and gain valuable performance experience.
This year’s competition highlights the works of Mozart, offering finalists a rare opportunity to perform with orchestra. The preliminary round will take place in a top-tier concert hall in the Swiss Alps, while the final round will be held at the Kammermusiksaal in Vitznau, on the shores of Lake Lucerne.

Competition Dates
Preliminary Round:
July 17 - 18, 2025 – Andermatt Concert Hall
Final Round:
July 20 - 21, 2025 – Vitznau Kammermusiksaal (with Chamber orchestra)
Eligibility
✔Open to all registered participants of the MingClassics Festival and Masterclasses, regardless of nationality.
✔ Participants must register for one age category only.
"Young Jury" Panel
To enrich participants' musical experience, the Young Jury Program allows students to gain insight from the jury’s perspective. Selected students will join the final round jury panel, listen to performances, and contribute scores.
✔ Open to Masterclass participants upon application.
✔ Young Jury scores will account for 5% of the finalist's total score.
Scoring & Awards
The competition uses a 25-point scoring system, with awards assigned as follows:
25 points → 🥇 First Prize with Distinction
24–23 points → 🥇 First Prize
22–20 points → 🥈 Second Prize
19–16 points → 🥉 Third Prize
15 points or below → Certificate of Participation
Each age category will include First, Second, and Third Prizes. Winners will receive certificates.
✔ In specific categories as outlined by each discipline, participants who receive a First Prize with Distinction in the first round will be eligible to:
– Perform with the orchestra in the Final Round
– Be considered for selection as MingClassics Grand Prize Winners 2025 (1–2 participants will be selected across all disciplines)

✔ Additional selected prizewinners will also be invited to perform in the Winners’ Concert with piano accompaniment.
